Kukui Heiau (Hawaiian temple) is located on
the grounds of Outrigger at Lae Nani with a view of the ocean. Lae
Nani means "beautiful point of land," It was a spiritual retreat for
the Hawaiian people in ancient times. The Wialua River Valley
surrounds it and was a home and culture center of the Kings. Legends
of canoe voyages across the Pacific to this location are part of
it's legends of the past.
Kukui Heiau was built nearly 500 years ago, and once stood 230 feet
long and 70 feet wide. Today, very few of the original features can
be seen. Kukui Heiau remains as a symbol of Hawaiian culture.
